Beneficiaries

The Beneficiary Name is the person or entity that would be paid the Accidental Death benefit should a traveler die while covered under this policy. It is common to name a close relative or an estate as the beneficiary.

Please note that a traveler can have multiple beneficiaries. If you enter multiple beneficiaries for a traveler, you should designate the percentage beside each name, for example, "Jane Doe (50%), The John Doe Estate (50%)".

Family Promotions

To qualify for a Kids are Free plan or other family promotion you must meet the following criteria:

For trips with a duration of 90 days or less:

For trips with a duration of greater than 90 days:

Family promotional rates apply to International SOS membership in the Global Traveler, Global Traveler Medical and Global Traveler Premier plans only. Promotion does not apply to Scholastic plan options.

Citizenship

If you have dual citizenship, select either of your citizenship countries.

Departure/Effective Date

The Departure Date is the date you leave your home on a single trip. For example, if you are leaving your home one day before your cruise ship departs, select the day you leave your home as the Departure Date, not the day the cruise ship departs.

For annual multi-trip plans, the Effective Date is the date that your membership coverage will go into effect.

Fulfillment Options

Fulfillment is the delivery of your order confirmation and insurance terms and conditions. Fulfillment is always sent by email to the email address you provide.

For the ISOS Membership benefits you receive, you will be sent a membership card that provides you with your membership number and important phone numbers. The membership card is sent as a PDF attachment to the fulfillment email. You can print the attachment and cut out the card to carry it with you on your trip. If you prefer, you can select to have a pre-cut, laminated copy of the card mailed to your address by postal mail. In most cases, this service costs an additional premium.

If you have multiple travelers, each traveler's card will be in the PDF attachment. The cost for receiving the card by postal mail is for all travelers, not per traveler.

Passport Information

Enter the Passport Number and passport Issuing Country for each traveler. This information is used to process any claims you may file more quickly.

If you do not know the Passport Number, continue with your order. Before you leave for your trip, please contact us by phone or email with your Order Number and Passport Number to ensure faster claims processing.

Payment Date

The Initial Trip Payment Date is the first date which you made a payment, partial or whole, for your trip. If you paid by check, enter the date on which the check was written. If you paid by credit card, enter the date you paid with the credit card. If you are insuring trip costs, you must have paid some amount towards the trip itself before you can purchase certain insurance plans.

The Final Trip Payment Date is the date which you or any traveler made the final payment for your trip. If you are travelling with a group of people, make sure this is the date the last payment was made, by anyone in the group. If the final payment was by check, enter the date on which the check was written. If the final payment was by credit card, enter the date you or the traveler paid with the credit card.

Primary Destination

If you are traveling to multiple destinations, select the destination where you will spend the most time for your Primary Destination. Please note you will be covered if you travel outside the Primary Destination, excluding Belarus, Cuba, Iran, Israel, Nepal, North Korea, Russia, Sudan, Syria, Ukraine, and Venezuela.

If you are buying an annual, multi-trip plan, enter the Primary Destination for your next trip. You do not need to enter the destination for each of your trips, as long as you are not traveling to restricted destinations for any of those trips.

Primary Traveler

If any traveler in your group resides in a different state than the Primary Traveler, that person must purchase a separate plan. Because insurance laws vary by state, you cannot list residents of multiple states on the same policy.

Residence Country

Select the country in which you reside currently.

Residence State/Territory

Due to insurance laws varying by state and territory, if any traveler in your group resides in a different state or territory, that person must purchase a separate plan.

Return/Expiration Date

The Return Date is the date that you return to your home on a single trip. For annual multi-trip plans, the Expiration Date will automatically populate 365 days from the date you select as the Effective Date.

Security Code

All credit cards come with an extra measure of security called the "card validation code" or "card identification number." Credit card issuers ask for this code to ensure that the card is in your physical possession.

A few credit cards do not have security codes. If your card does not have this code, leave the Security Code field empty. Processing your order, however, may take a little bit longer.

For MasterCard, Visa, and Discover, the security code is the last 3 digits printed on or to the right of the signature strip on the back of your card:

For American Express, the security code is 4 digits printed (not embossed) on the front of your card:

Secondary Coverage

Secondary Coverage means that this coverage will be paid after any other collectible insurance has paid the claim and other collectable policy limits have been exhausted.

Single-Trip & Multi-Trip

Single-trip plans provide coverage for a single trip. For an additional cost, Multi-trip plans provide coverage for all trips taken within a period of twelve (12) months starting from the date of purchase. Multi-trip coverage begins on the Departure Date for your first trip.

Please note that Single-Trip and Multi-trip plans provide coverage only for trip lengths up to ninety (90) days. Trips longer than ninety (90) days are covered by Extended Stay plans.

Extended Stay Traveler means a member on a trip outside his or her home country that is longer than ninety (90) consecutive days, but not to exceed three hundred and sixty five (365) days or one hundred eighty (180) days if travel medical insurance is included. Extended Stay Travelers may travel multiple times to any country outside their home country and receive membership benefits during the dates of coverage.

Trip Protection benefits such as Trip Cancellation are not offered for Multi-trip or Extended Stay plans. If you currently are an International SOS member with a Multi-trip plan or Extended Stay plan, you can buy a Single-trip plan to provide Trip Protection benefits as well. For more information, see the benefit descriptions on Existing Members.

Trip Cost

Trip Cost is used to calculate the amount of your Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption coverage. It also is used to determine plan cost.

Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption coverage reimburses you should your trip be cancelled or interrupted for a covered reason. You should insure the full amount of your prepaid and non-refundable travel arrangements. Non-prepaid and refundable items are not covered.

If you are covering multiple people on this policy, divide the total trip cost by the total number of people to get the Per Person cost or enter the Total Combined cost. All coverage limits are per traveler.

Before purchasing, please review the plan terms and conditions so that you fully understand the coverages provided.
